Status of Aqeeqah for Wife

Q: Is aqeeqa for ones wife farz, sunnat or wajib on her husband?
A. Usually Aqeeqah of a child is done by the parents when the child is still an infant. It is a meritorious act which the parents fulfil. It is not Fardh, Sunnah or Waajib on the husband to do the Aqeeqah for his wife.
