Must we raise hands for Qunut in Fajr prayer

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad

Is it compulsory to raise our hands while reading Dua-e-Qunoot during the fajr prayer?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

No, it is not compulsory, rather the raising of the hands and the supplication itself are recommended as mentioned in the Reliance (f8.53).

If one did not raise their hands, the supplication of qunut would still be valid. Sincei it only a minor sunna, its omission would not invalidate the prayer, nor call for a prostration of forgetfulness.

And Allah alone gives success.
