Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I wish to ask you a very crucial and sensetative question. Some moderate educationalists in Pakistan and elsewhere are preaching that Pakistan should embrace and implement Islam as understood and interpreted by some Muslim reformers and scholars like Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Justice Syed Ameer Ali, Moulanas Altaf Hussain Hali, Shibli naumani, Abu Kalam Azad, Obaidullah Sindhi, Syed Jamaluddin Afghani, Mustafa Kamal Pasha etc., etc. Those not following these personalities, according to these educationalists, by implication, means are fundamentalist clerics, orthodox, conservative and so and so for. Kindly enlighten us with your kind views on the above statement. Jazakullah,

Answer

When Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) performed Hajj, on the ninth
of Dhul-Hijjah in the plains of Arafaat, being the most auspicious place, on
a Friday, being the most auspicious day of the week, after Asr being the
most auspicious time on a Friday by Jabal Rahmat, the most auspicious place
in the plains of Arafaat, Allah Ta’ala sent Jibraaeel (Alayhis salaam) with
the following verse:
Today have I perfected your religion for you, completed my favour upon you
and I am pleased with Islam as your religion.

The verse is clear that Islam is a perfect and absolute religion.
Considerations of reformation is an insult to the perfect religion of Islam.
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) advised that after his demise, we
should hold firm to the Qur’aan and his Ahaadith. We should not be concerned
about people’s comments on being orthodox, fundamentalist, etc. Surely, we
are only obliged to please Allah Ta’ala.
