I am a committee member of a Masjid. In the meeting it was pointed out that the Imam and the Naib Imam are frequently absent in the namaz, therefore causing inconvenience to the muqtadis. Therefore, one of the committee members started taking attendance of the Imams. The Imams then pointed out that it was wrong to take the attendance of the Imams according to the Shariah. Please inform the correct Shariah for the management of the mosque.

Imamah or employment on salary is the matter of Ijarah. Hence now the matter of causal leave, sick leave and annual leave etc should be settles in the dealing clearly. Then it is right to take attendance for good management.
