Is it permissible to eat food provided in college programs held for guests and teachers?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria
I work in a public college. Many different programs are held in our college during which food and drink are provided. Some people say that the money used for holding these programs is actually for the interest of the college, and the principal is using it to host guests who attend these programs. Teachers of the college are also invited to these programs. Is it permissible for us to eat the food provided in these programs or not? The principal is also an Alim who has graduated from Jamia Binoria.

If the principal has permission to use the funds of the college for these such programs, then it is okay for him to spend it on these programs and it is also permissible for those invited to partake in the food and drinks that are provided during these programs. If there is no such permission, then the principal should refrain from spending the funds of the college behind such programs.
And Allah knows best.
