Delaying Salah Until the Last Moment of the Time

Question:

Is my fajr prayer valid if I finish it a few seconds before sunrise I saw the time of sunrise on Google? I don’t know the accuracy of it. The mosque I go to has the time of qaza at 7:09 pm and the sunrise on Google is 7:10. I figured they placed it one minute earlier for better accuracy. But then according to mosque time my prayer is qaza. I have a few prayers that I finished before sunrise but according to Google time and mosque time they are qaza since they have placed the time of qaza one minute earlier.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The time of fajr is from the moment of true dawn ( when the whiteness which spreads horizontally across the expanse of the horizon ) starts until just before sunrise.1

From the 27 conditions of the validity of Salah there are two conditions are:

  1. The time of Salah must have commenced.
  2. The conviction that the Salah time has started.2

For a prayer to be valid it should be completed within its time period. If you are certain that the time you found online is correct, your salah is valid. If the time was incorrect you will have to repeat the prayer.

In the future, you should give yourself more time to perform your Salah. Salah should not be left to the last moment.

Only Allah knows best
