Question:

If a person breaks his fardh, sunnah or whilst reading qadah namaz and breaks it on purpose will it be wajib to repeat them?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Any physical form of worship (Salah, Fasting, Hajj, Umrah, Tawaaf, etc.) once started, becomes Waajib to complete it. So, if for any reason one is unable to complete it and breaks it, it will become necessary to do Qadha of that action and repeat it. This is regardless of the action initiated is Fardh, Wajib, Sunnah or Nafl. Once the action has been initiated, it is now necessary to complete it. It is only permitted to break Salah due to fear of loss of life or wealth. It is Haraam to break the Salah without a valid reason. [Fatawa Darul Uloom Deoband; volume 4, page 179]
