Is It Permissible for a Menstruating Woman To Perform Wudu Before Going to Bed?

Question:

is it permissible for a menstruating woman to perform wudu before going to bed?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Women will be rewarded for the inconvenience which they bear for menses.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that.”¹

There are 8 things impermissible for a menstruating woman:

1. Performing Salaah
2. Fasting
3. Reciting even a single verse of the Quran
4. Touching the Quran unless it is covered with a cloth
5. To enter the masjid
6. To perform tawaf
7. To have intercourse
8. (For a man) to derive any sexual pleasure from any part of the woman’s body from her navel to below her knee²

Performing wudhu will be permissible during menstruation as it does not contravene any of the prohibitions.
