Question:

Asaalaam alaikum brother

I have a question I opened savings accounts for my daughters when they were born in their names now they are over 18 years old do they have to pay zakat on the money or do I?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Yes, Zakat must be paid from that account, not only after the age of 18, rather from the time they had reached the age of puberty, provided that it reached Nisab and there are no outstanding debts etc. (1)

Your daughters are responsible to pay their own Zakat.

Only Allah knows best.
