Question:

Is there any sadaqah that needs to be given for wearing masks in ihraam?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Sewn clothes cannot be worn in Ihraam. If it is worn for less than 1 day, Sadaqah is Waajib; if it is worn for more than a day, Dam is Waajib.

It is described in Al Hidayah:

إن لبس ثوبا مخيطا أو غطى رأسه يوما كاملا فعليه دم إن كان أقل من ذلك فهليه صدقة

“And if he wears a sewn garment or covers his head for a whole day, then he owes a sacrifice; and if it is less than that, then it is necessary for him to give charity.” (Al Hidayah, Vol 2, Pg 261)

Masks are sewn. Therefore, they will fall under the category of “sewn garments”.

Only Allah knows best.
