Died and Left a Mother, a Wife, Five Sons and one Daughter

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Darul Iftaa Jordan
A man passed away leaving behind a mother, a wife, five sons and one daughter. How should the inheritance be divided knowing that it is mainly agricultural land?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds. May His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions.

If there are no heirs other than those mentioned in the above question and there is nothing that prohibits any of them from inheritance (such as being a non-Muslim as this forbids someone from becoming an heir or having committed intentional or unjustifiable killing as killing the person from whom one inherits excludes him from inheritance as well) the inheritance is divided as follows:

The wife gets one eighth, the mother gets one sixth and the rest is divided among males and female where a male gets two shares while a female gets one. In any case, you (Asker) should go to court of Sharia to complete the division of the inheritance. And Allah the Almighty knows best.
