Question

Assalamualaikum Maulana,

How should I wash my hands after coming from the washroom (during menses)? By just pouring water on the hands, do the hands become pure or by rubbing, or is using soap compulsory to make them pure? Please answer in detail and please make dua for me.

In the name of Allah the most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Answer

Impurity is purified from the clothes and the body using water and by using any fluid cleanser/detergent like vinegar and rose water. (Nurul Idha Page 42 Al Maktabatul Asariyyah)

With regards to your question, hands will be purified using water alone. Using soaps etc and rubbing is permissible also but not necessary, although they do help to remove the smell and assist the overall cleaning process.

Only Allah knows best.
