Are there any recorded deeds (amal) to be done/prayed when moving into a new house? Especially to keep the unwanted inhabitants away.

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is quite a good habit to make a house blessed with the Quran prior to moving in. The best thing which is recommended that one recites Surah Baqarah.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has mentioned that the devil does not enter that house which Surah Baqarah is read and do not make your house like graveyards.

(Sahih Muslim, Hadith number 780, The Book of Prayer, Travelers, Chapter reading optional prayers in the house and mosque)

Only Allah knows best
