Whoever comes to the Masjid is a guest of Allah

Question

Could you please give me the full Hadith that says Allah Ta’ala is the host for those who come to the Masjid and it is incumbent on the host to honour the guest.

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Salman (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

Sayyiduna Salman (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whomsoever makes wudu properly at home, then comes to the Masjid, then he is the guest of Allah and it is the duty of the host to honour his guest.” [i.e. Allah will ensure to honour His guest.]

(Al Mu’jamul Kabir, Hadith: 6139, 6145)

‘Allamah Mundhiri (rahimahullah) states, ‘This narration is recorded in Tabarani with two chains, one of which is authentic [jayyid].’ ‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has mentioned a similar grading.

(Targhib, vol. 1 pg. 214, Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 2 pg. 31. Also see: Ad Durrul Manthur, Surah: Tawbah, Verse: 17-18, vol. 7 pg. 262)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
