The Hadith narrator ‘Abdullah ibn Khalifah Al Basri

Question

Please provide information regarding the status of the narrator ‘Abdullah ibn Khalifah Al Basri.

Answer

There is a difference of opinion on this narrator’s name. Some Muhaddithun have named him ‘Abdullah ibn Khalifah while others have named him Khalifah ibn ‘Abdillah.

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has declared him reliable (thiqah) and ‘Allamah Dhahabi (rahimahullah) has declared him truthful (saduq) [i.e. His narrations will be declared sound].
