BLACK MAGIC AND LOVE

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

QUESTION:

As Salaamu Alaikum,

  1. A woman came to know about a dua that makes someone fall in love. She said that dua and blowed into water. She then gave the water to a man to drink to make him fall in love with her. Now, whatever she did, is it considered to be black magic? Has she done anything wrong?
  2. If she gets the chance of marrying that man in future, does she have to confess about this crime before marrying him?

ANSWER:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

  1. What the woman did is not considered as black magic, however, it is totally wrong in Islam to do such a thing. As mentioned by the scholars, Black Magic refers to such practices in which acts of kufr and shirk, and other sinful things are done to please the satans and jinns, and help from them is taken to bring about strange happenings.

(Ma’ariful Quran Vol. 1 page 278,279 Idaratul Ma’arif 1999).

  1. If the woman eventually marries that person, she does not have to inform him of what she did before marrying him.

Whatever has occurred in the past, has gone already. The woman should beg Allah to forgive her, and she should try her best to become a good and righteous wife for her husband.
