Is there evidence to show Tashahhud after Sajdah Sahw?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Assalaamu Alaikum, there are some who say there is no evidence for tashahhud after Sajda sahw?  It is kind of confusing to me. Could you clarify this? JazakAllah khair.

Wa Alaikum Assalaam,

الجواب و بالله التوفيق

Some Scholars are of the opinion that there is no Tashahhud after Sajda Sahw, stating that there is no evidence for this. However, there is sufficient evidence which shows that Tashahhud should be done after Sajda Sahw.

In this regard, it is narrated by Imran Bin Husain (R.A) that ‘the Prophet (S.A.S) performed salaat with them and forgot something. He made the two Sajdah (of forgetfulness), then he did the Tashahhud and made Salaam.’

(Recorded by Imam Tirmidhi who said it was Hasan – Good; Abu Dawood in his Sunan; Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh; Hakim in his Mustadrak who said ‘This tradition is Saheeh (sound) based upon the conditions laid by Imam Bukhari and Muslim. I’la’us Sunan, Vol. 7, Pgs. 161-162 Idara Al Quran Wal Uloom Al Islamiya, Karachi 1415 A.H).

Abu Ubaidah has narrated from the great Companion, Abdullah Bin Masood (R.A) that he said, ‘When one of you stands in the sitting posture or he sits in the standing posture or he made salaam after two rakaats, then let him make salaam, then do the two Sajdah, then do the Tashahhud and make Salaam.’

(Sahnoon has mentioned it in Al Mudawanah Al Kubra). (I’la’us Sunan, Vol. 7, Pg. 164. Idara Al Quran Wal Uloom Al Islamiya Karachi 1415 A.H).
