Timing for Salatul Ishraq?

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

I have always been told that we should read Ishraaq Salaah approximately 15 minutes after sunrise. This is because the sun should rise completely, I believe. Recently, I searched on google about it and it says it takes about 5 minutes for the sun to rise completely. The URL for the site where I found this information is,

https://www.quora.com/How-long-does-it-take-for-the-sun-to-completely-rise-over-the-water

I would like to know if I can read Ishraaq salah 5 minutes after sunrise instead of 15 minutes after.

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

Ishraaq Salah should be prayed approximately 15-20 minutes after sunrise because it would be necessary for a person to wait until the sun rises the length of a spear from the horizon to stay away from disliked time. (Mirqaatul Mafatih, vol 2, pg. 23).

The Prophet (saw) would prohibit his companions from praying at the time of sunrise until the sun would fully rise. (Muslim, vol. 6, pg. 114)
