Anger is a burning coal in the heart of man

What is the authenticity of this Hadith?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Anger is an ember in the heart of the son of Adam”

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this as part of a longer Hadith. He has declared the Hadith sound (hasan).

The part in question is as follows:

“Anger is an ember in the heart of the son of Adam. Do you not see the redness of the eyes and bulging of the jugular vein [when a person becomes enraged]. Anyone who [goes into a fit of rage like this] should cling to the ground [until the anger subsides].”

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2191)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
