Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Four things contribute to happiness/bliss:

1. A righteous wife
2. A spacious home
3. A righteous neighbour
4. A comfortable means of transport”

Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) as part of a longer narration. He has declared the Hadith authentic.

In another Hadith recorded in Musnad Ahmad, Al Adabul Mufrad of Imam Bukhari and Mustadrak Hakim, Sayyiduna Nafi’ ibn ‘Abdil Harith (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

The following are regarded to be from the good fortune of a man:

  1. A righteous neighbour
  2. A comfortable mode of transport
  3. A spacious home

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 3 pg. 407/408, Al Adabul Mufrad, Hadith: 116 and 457, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 166/167)

Imam Hakim has declared the Hadith authentic and ‘Allamah Dhahabi (rahimahumallah) concurs. ‘Allamah Mundhiri and ‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahumallah) have declared the narrators of Musnad Ahmad reliable.
