One warning for not reading durud

Is there an authentic hadith which states that a Muslim who does not recite durud upon Nabi (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) has lost the way to Jannah?

Answer

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) is reported to have said: ” Whoever forgets to recite durud (salutations) upon me when I am mentioned will lose the way to Jannah”

(Sunan ibn Majah, hadith: 908, Al Mu’jamul Kabir, hadith: 12819, As Sunanul Kubra of Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah), vol. 9 pg. 286, Shu’abul Iman, hadith: 1472, Fadlus Salah ‘Alan Nabi of Isma’il Al Qadi, hadith: 41-44)

The above hadith has been reported through various chains. Although most of these chains have been declared as weak (some very weak), Hafiz Sakhawi (rahimahullah) states that they gain collective strength. Infact Rashid Al ‘Attar (rahimahullah) has declared one of the chains as sound (hasan). This narration is therefore suitable to quote.

(See Al Qawlul Badi’, pg. 309- 311. Also see Misbahus Zujajah, hadith: 331)
