I wanted to know the authenticity of this Hadith:
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“The evil eye is real and can bring a person down from a high mountain.”
Answer
Imam Ahmad and Imam Hakim (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).
(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 1 pg. 274 and pg. 294, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 215)
Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith authentic and ‘Allamah Dhahabi concurs.
