Fasting and offering Jumu’ah Salah in Madinah Munawwarah

Is this narration authentic?

Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) said, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Fasting the month of Ramadan in Madinah is like fasting one thousand months elsewhere, and one Jumu’ah prayer in Madinah is like one thousand offered elsewhere.”

Answer

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith in Shu’abul Iman. He has declared the chain very weak (da’ifun bi marrah).

(Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 3852. Also see: Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 5108)

Strong support

However, Imams Bukhari and Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded a Hadith which states that Salah offered in Masjidun Nabawi is one thousand times better.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 1190, Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1394)

Jumu’ah Salah will therefore also be one thousand times better, based on the Hadith in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.
