Clarification regarding a tasbih which earns one a tree in Jannah

My question is regarding the following Hadith:

“Whoever says ‘SubhanAllah il ‘Azimi wa bi hamdihi’ (Glory be to Allah, the Almighty), a palm tree will be planted for him in Jannah”

In Riyadus Salihin the wording is: ‘SubhanAllahi wa bi hamdihi’

Which one is correct?

Answer

‘Allamah Nawawi (rahimahullah) has referenced this Hadith to Sunan Tirmidhi (Riyadus Salahin, Hadith: 1458, edition of Darul Minhaj). The Hadith appears with the words ‘SubhanAllah il ‘Azimi wa bi hamdihi’ in three editions of Sunan Tirmidhi which I have referred to.

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3464 and 3465, edition of ‘Ilmiyyah and Darul Garb and Hadith: 3769 and 3770 edition of Ar Risalah Al ‘Alamiyyah)

However, Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has also recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir (radiyallahu ‘anhu). This version has the words ‘Subhan Allahi wa bi hamdihi’.

(Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 826. Also see Hadith: 827)

One may recite whichever version one prefers.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
