Understanding My Urine Drops Condition: Seeking Clarification from Mufti Sahib

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I had a problem with urine drops for a few years. Drops would come out for 15 minutes after urinating. A few months ago, it became worse. The drops continue for 15 minutes but when I go to the toilet for istija I urinate again. Many a time, an entire salaah time passes like this. However, at times, an entire Salaah time (like Maghrib) will pass without me urinating a second time, even though the drops continue for 15 minutes. I then experience the ‘second urination’ in the next Salaah time. Could Mufti saheb please clarify for me what is my condition and if i remain ma’zoor all the time or not?

Bismillaah

A: In Shariah, a person will qualify as a ma’zoor if the entire namaaz time passes in such a condition that he is unable to perform the wudhu and the salaah without the uzr being found (i.e. without the factor breaking the wudhu e.g. the coming out of urine being found). This is the law in regard to becoming a ma’zoor. However after one has become a ma’zoor, then in order for one to remain a ma’zoor, the condition is that the ‘uzr will have to be found at least once in every namaaz time. The Shar’i law regarding a Ma’zoor is that he will have to renew his wudhu for every salaah time.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
