Is my current job profile of developing software for non-Islamic banks halal or haram according to the Quran?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I am currently working as software professional in a MNC based in Chennai. My nature of job is developing software for Banks (non-Islamic banks) on-top of a core banking system which revolves around writing programs for data manipulations/data storage of customer info, account info, transaction info and sometimes writing new programs to perform interest, tax, commission, charges calculation based on bank user input and all other processes done by a software in banks. I do not have any work experience in any other software field or industry other than my current job. So far my belief was that I work day and night and I am paid for my hard work not considering from which mode my salary is paid by the company as most of the companies in various fields pay salary to their employers from interest collected from banks. I would like to know whether my current job profile is halal or haram? Kindly explain me on the basis of Quran.

Answer

(Fatwa: 134/135/B=1433)

Since the software programmes you design contain programmes related to interest commission and you know it, hence it is makrooh to do a job in that company.
