Is It Disliked to Call a Husband by His Name?

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad

Question

I know that it is not impermissible for a woman to call her spouse by his name. I understand that according to customs and different cultures it may be deemed as disrespectful but would there be any dislike in this in Britain 2021 where it is the norm to call one’s husband by his name?

Answer

Thank you for your question.  There is no particular ruling on this case, so it goes back to the preference of the husband. If he dislikes it, it should be avoided, and if not, then there is no problem with it.
