Question: I plan to start a business, but I feel that the drive to want to become rich predominates my heart. Should I not start the business?
Answer:
Wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
Dear questioner,
Thank you for your important question.
Starting a business is often quite a good idea, and the need for Muslim entrepreneurs is definitely felt these days. I would definitely advise going ahead with the business idea.
It is common that whenever anything happens, the Devil ruins it by corrupting our intentions. That said, we are not taken to task for mere passing thoughts. ‘Allah has indeed overlooked the passing thoughts of my nation, as long as they do not talk about them or act according to them.’ (Bukhari and Muslim) Talking about them doesn’t mean seeking advice concerning them.
Just renew your intention and go ahead. We should all renew and purify our intentions daily.
