Answered by Shaykh Amjad Rasheed
Is the avoidance of filth during sexual activity obligatory or is it forgiven?
The default of the ruling is that it is obligatory to avoid filth and not touch it, however, the erudite scholar Shaykh `Ali al-Shibramilsi, said, as he narrated it from al-Shirwani in the Hashiyah of the Tuhfa (1/285), “that it is excused during intercourse, [s. to come into contact with] madhy (discharge of thin, sticky white fluid caused by amorous play or kissing) that affects the male private part. This is because if he washed it, it might relax it and that might happen repeatedly, so it would be difficult for him.
As for situations outside of sexual activity, it is not excused.
