Multiple residences (Watn Asli) for a traveller

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. I am a South African living in the UK. I own a house in the UK and a house in SA where my parents live. I have my belongings at both places. I travel constantly between my house in the UK and SA. If I travel from the UK to SA and stay at my house in SA for 10 days and then return to the UK, do I need to read full Salaah or short Salaah during my stay in SA?

A.In the enquired case, you will perform full Salaah for the full duration of your stay at your house in SA as long as you assume it as a permanent residence (Watan Asli) and it is occupied by your family.

As such, all the rules of a non-traveller will apply to you during your stay at your house in SA and you will perform full Salaah and not short Salaah. (Shaami 2/131)
