Is lucid dreaming permissible?

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. Is lucid dreaming permissible?

A. A lucid dream refers to a dream during which the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming. During lucid dreaming, the dreamer may be able to have some control over the dream characters, narrative, and environment.

In terms of Shariah, if during a lucid dream, one entertains impermissible or Haraam things or one fantasizes over impermissible or Haraam acts, then one will be sinful. However, one will not be sinful for entertaining permissible and Halaal things.

Note: One should not waste ones time in unnecessary thoughts, rather, one should spend ones time pondering over the greatness of Allah’s creation.
