Is it permissible to eat raw meat?

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. Is it permissible to eat raw meat?

There are a few Muslim foreigners in my neighbourhood who cut meat into pieces, drain the blood, add spices etc. and then eat it raw without cooking it.

A. If an animal is Halaal and is slaughtered in accordance with the Islamic Laws of slaughter, it will be permissible to eat raw meat of an animal provided that it does not cause any harm to a person. One should seek advice from a Nutritionist or Medical Practitioner before doing so. (Ahsanul Fataawa 7/410)
