Q. Is it necessary to face the Qiblah whilst slaughtering an animal?

A. It is Mustahab (preferable) for a person slaughtering an animal and for the animal that is being slaughtered to face the Qiblah whilst slaughtering. (Fataawa Darul Uloom Zakariyyah 6/134)
