I’ve been considering taking Bayah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question

Assalamu Alaykum Shaykh Saab,

I pray you are well. Ameen.

I’ve been considering taking Bayah recently, but I don’t know how to go about it. I know that the Barkat that I recieve from any Shaykhs guidance will be the same, however I still don’t know which Shaykh I feel ‘connected’ to. Someone suggested that I should take Bayah with someone who can be like a father figure for me. I could really do with that. They suggested you.

Please guide me, what should I do? I just want to be close to Allah Ta’ala.

Please remember me in your humble dua’s.

Wassalam

Answer

Sorry for the delay. Bay’at is a blessing. Inshallah, I will be there to help you and guide you as much as possible – If Bay’at can be taken in person, it’s more beneficial. However, our Mashaikh used to take Bay’at by letters as well. So, Bay’at on the web is also possible.

When you are ready for Bay’at, let me know and we’ll go through the procedure. After Bay’at, you will be given some preliminary practices. When you become punctual upon them, you can progress to a higher level – Bay’at is not just for duas and mashweras, it’s a form of spiritual rectification.

May Allah S.W.T. reward you for your good intentions, grant you his proximity and be pleased with you – Ameen.
