Question

I had taken Bai’yat from a Shaykh a few years back. Presently there has been a communication gap because of his poor health and also there is no Khalifa of his close to my town. Under these circumstances can I take Bai’yat from another shaykh

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer

If it is not possible to be in contact with the first sheikh due to his ill health or the sheikh living in another country where it is difficult to be in regular contact with him, then it will be permissible to take bayah or take benefit from a local sheikh with the blessing and consent of the first one. One should not change a sheikh without any reason. (Aapke Masaail p.368 v.7 & Kifayatul Mufti p.102 v.2)
