Is it permissible for a hospital worker to touch patients?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

If a person works at the hospital and deals with patients on a regular basis, would it be permissible to touch them when necessary? Even if there is no sin in this, does it still effect that person spiritually? Would it be recommended to find work where touching non-mahrams is not required?

If these things recur time and again such that you cannot control your thoughts than definitely this will affect your spirituality. Therefore, it is better to work at a place where this doesn’t happen as much.
