Am I allowed to lead the prayers even if I commit major sins?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org

I am a very respected hafiz in the community but I commit major sins. Am I allowed to lead the prayer?

You should do Taubah (repent). You should pray two rakaat of Salaat Taubah and ask Allah for forgiveness; and then continue your Imamat. Because Allah and is the forgiver; Inshallah your Imamat will be OK.
