You should put your money in fixed deposit with the intention of keeping it protected. For example, some governments protect the money of the employees and at the time of retirement they return the money back with some additional amount, which is allowed. This would be considered a contribution from the government. If it’s from a private fund than the extra money should be given to the poor. If somebody is in need of getting married, and wants to use this money than that would be allowed.

To make dua after the obligatory prayers is recommendable and all four schools of thought endorse this.
