I want to know what part of our life is controlled by Allah and when are we on our own. i.e. When is Allah controlling us and when is He not. I know that Allah is seeing us always, but is He just seeing us (of course whether we are doing good or bad) or is He also controlling us.

Nothing in this entire universe or in the dimensions of human function is out of the control out of the Almighty. Everything is in his control, if we are ever doing anything good or bad he has knowledge of it and he has control over it. He has sent us here to test us. So he has given us some room to exercise our will. Nonetheless, he controls everything.
