Jin in Cave soor

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org
1) What is your opinion about the wahabi’s? Have they erred in anything, i.e. like salafis. Some people distinguish Wahabis and Salafis as two different sects; Salafi being the ones who differ on the concept of Taqleed. 2) Also, who is Shaykh Salman Oadah. Is he an authentic scholar? 3) Can one be a proper Hanafi fiqh follower and a Wahabis at the same time. 4) I am a bit confused about the wahabis. I am well aware of the Salafi sect; which we majority of the scholars say have erred. But aren’t’t Wahabis and Salafis the same thing….Please explain.
The word wahabi means many things but primarily its in reference to the followers of Abdula Wahhab Najdi and it’s not necessary to mean that they are not followers of a madhhab. We find among his followers who follow a school of thought and those who don’t follow we disagree with them in their stance.
But those who are followers of a madhab and are wahabi are considered by Deobandi scholars to be a little harsh. They acted in a very strict manner in eradicating that and we have some differences in opinion with them in things we find them exaggerative. Sometime they exaggerate to an extent that it becomes disrespectful. But in major things we agree with them.
The person you asked about is someone we don’t know about, so we can’t say anything about him. Those who say to the followers of Hanafi madhab are wahabi are incorrect. Because we agree in some innovations as apostasy people tend to attribute us to them, which is not correct. Deobandi scholars consider innovations when there is a consensus on it by other scholars.
They agree with all the traditional and rightly guided scholars about the concepts of the prophet peace be upon him such that whatever the scholars agree as disrespectful or the penalty of those who use profane language for him is valid. They agree with Tasawwuf in it’s right way, and agree on the ‘hayatun nabi’ concept.
So, these people are not wahabi but have propagated as such just to keep people away from them. It’s not likely that someone can be hanafi and wahabi at the same time.
