Is Zikar good in congregation or individually ?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by ShariahBoard.org
In Zikar Majlis of twelve tasbeehs should the mureed do zikar with the sheikh i.e. together in congregation with the sheikh or individually because some mureeds do it together with the sheikh and some do it on there own so which method is better? What was the practice of Hazrat Thanvi, Hazrat Madani and Hazrat Zakaria (RA) and there mureeds did they do zikar of twelve tasbeehs together in congregation or individually?
There is not collective zikr for the ulema who follow the silsila of honorable thanwi r.a. There is a collective zikr in the opinion of honorable zakariya r.a. Collective zikr here is taken to mean that people gather and then conduct their own individual zikr and this form is most suitable. There are many problems with doing collective zikr in the sense of doing it together. However, if some sheikh conducts such zikr where he recites and everyone else chants after him then that would be allowed. But in should be born in mind that no one should think of it as something from the Shariah or that it’s obligatory or sunnah. It is just a scheme and a method of doing things or curing the spiritual ailments and this is permitted in Shariah.
