I have been trying to find a good rental home for my family so that my kids can freely play around and enjoy around the house and has good arrangements for purdah. I have finally found a very good rental property, however the owner is putting a condition that I have to buy rental insurance in order to rent this place. I completely understand and acknowledge that insurance in itself is haram and that not all rental properties require such insurance, however in my situation, will it be permissible for me to buy the insurance for this rental property in order to fulfill the demand of the landlord to successfully rent this place?

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah
As per the situation described in your question, making the purchase of renter’s insurance is a nefarious condition and through inclusion of such condition the rental contract will become corrupt. Therefore if you have not engaged in the rental contract then rewrite the contract from scratch with new conditions and end any current transactions.
( تَفْسُدُ الْإِجَارَةُ بِالشُّرُوطِ الْمُخَالِفَةِ لِمُقْتَضَى الْعَقْدِ فَكُلُّ مَا أَفْسَدَ الْبَيْعَ ) مِمَّا مَرَّ ( يُفْسِدُهَا ) كَجَهَالَةِ مَأْجُورٍ أَوْ أُجْرَةٍ أَوْ مُدَّةٍ أَوْ عَمَلٍ ، وَكَشَرْطِ طَعَامِ عَبْدٍ وَعَلَفِ دَابَّةٍ وَمَرَمَّةِ الدَّارِ أَوْ مَغَارِمِهَا وَعُشْرٍ أَوْ خَرَاجٍ أَوْ مُؤْنَةِ رَدٍّ أَشْبَاهٌ۔۔۔ وَفِي الْخُلَاصَةِ مَعْزِيَّا إلَى الْأَصْلِ : لَوْ اسْتَأْجَرَ دَارًا عَلَى أَنْ يَعْمُرَهَا وَيُعْطِيَ نَوَائِبَهَا تَفْسُدُ ؛ لِأَنَّهُ شَرْطٌ مُخَالِفٌ لِمُقْتَضَى الْعَقْدِ ا هـ .فَعُلِمَ بِهَذَا أَنَّ مَا يَقَعُ فِي زَمَانِنَا مِنْ إجَارَةِ أَرْضِ الْوَقْفِ بِأُجْرَةٍ مَعْلُومَةٍ عَلَىأَنَّ الْمَغَارِمَ وَكُلْفَةَ الْكَاشِفِ عَلَى الْمُسْتَأْجِرِ أَوْ عَلَى أَنَّ الْجَرْفَ عَلَى الْمُسْتَأْجِرِ فَاسِدٌ كَمَا لَا يَخْفَى
