Assalaamu’alaikum,
Due to some inconvenience at work, I go home during lunch time and make Wudu. I then offer 4 rak’aat Sunnat (Zuhr Prayer) at home and then arrive at the office. Then with another colleague, I offer Farz prayers by making Jamat with that colleague. Between teh time I offer Sunnat at home and then offer Fard at the office, there is a gap of 30-40 minutes. My question is: Is there any specified time gap between a Sunnat and Farz prayer? If yes, what is that specified time? If I surpass that specified time period, do I need to offer Sunnat prayer again before praying Farz?

Between Sunnat and Farz, without excuse, one should not do such actions which are against the Tehrimah.
The Fuqha have declared it a reason for decrease in the reward, therefore, you should pray the Before-Farz Sunnats adjacent to the Farz. If a delay happens then there is no need to repeat the Sunnats.
لو تكلم بين السنة والفرض لا يسقطها ولكن ينقص ثوابها) وقيل تسقط (وكذا كل عمل ينافي التحريمة على الأصح) قنية.۔۔۔۔ (قوله ولو جيء بطعام إلخ) أفاد أن العمل المنافي إنما ينقص ثوابها أو يسقطها لو كان بلا عذر، أما لو حضر الطعام وخاف ذهاب لذته لو اشتغل بالسنة البعدية فإنه يتناوله ثم يصليها لأن ذلك عذر في ترك الجماعة، ففي تأخير السنة أولى إلا إذا خاف فوتها بخروج الوقت فإنه يصليها ثم يأكل، هذا ما ظهر لي.{ تنویرالابصار والدر المختار ورد المحتار: باب الوتر والنوافل}
