Wearing Tawizes

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by SunniPath Answer Service Team

Many Muslims from southeast Asia seem to wear a taweez on their arms to ward off, or protect themselves from harm. Is it Islamic to wear the Qur’anic verses on our arms in hopes of protection that we can ask for orally? Also, what about washing oneself using water that was in a bowl with Qur’anic inscriptions, as well as drinking water that was “read” upon.
