Is it recommended for Muslims to read the book Muhammed by Martin Lings? Isn’t he a non-Muslim?

Martin Lings is a Muslim (Abu Bakr Siraj al-Din), and his biography is excellent, overall.
I would also recommend Shaykh Hamza Yusuf’s audio set, The Life of the Prophet Muhammad.
