Reciting in Prayer: Limiting Oneself to Ayat al-Kursi

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

During prayer, can one read Ayatul Kursi as a sura after Sura Fatihah?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

It is permitted to limit oneself to Ayat al-Kursi after the Fatiha.

The wajib of recitation is, “the extent of 3 short suras of the Qur’an.” [Radd al-Muhtar] Ayat al-Kursi (Qur’an, 2: 255) is longer than this.

And Allah alone gives success.

Walaikum assalam,

Faraz Rabbani.
