Yawning while reciting in prayer: Should one start from the beginning?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Sohail Hanif, SunniPath Academy Teacher

When praying salah on your own what should you do if you yawn in the middle of surat fatiha or another part of the prayer e.g. tashhahud. Should you start the surat/dua from the beginning?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaykum

If one yawns whilst reciting a sura or making a dua in a prayer one should continue reciting. There is certainly no need to start the whole sura or dua from the beginning. If one yawned in between reciting a particular word one should repeat the word if it was not pronounced properly.
