I was recently confronted with another issue in the university prayer room. Sometimes, due to whatever circumstances, some brothers miss the first congregational prayer and therefore make a second congregation. However, a brother yesterday said that you do not need to make second congregation in the mosque and therefore you pray alone. You can do it at home but not in the mosque….(we assume the university prayer room is a mosque)…this issue seemed very dodgy to me and a few other brothers as we are under the opinion that congregational prayers are rewarded more so than praying alone. What is the correct ruling and the evidence behind it because he quoted hadiths which I cannot remember

Walaikum assalam,
It is valid and permitted to hold a second congregation in a prayer hall.
What the brothers were talking about was about such a congregation in a mosque, and that is the subject of difference of opinion, too. [See attached answers.]
