Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I know painting humans and animals are wrong but just wanted to know the islamic ruling about painting flowers, sunsets and so forth

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

It is permitted without dislike to paint other than human or animal forms–such as flowers, landscapes, sunsets, and the like. [ Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar; Nahlawi, al-Durar al-Mubaha fi’l Hadhr wa’l Ibaha]

And Allah alone gives success.

Faraz Rabbani
