Final Sitting and Sending of Blessings

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

while Sitting in the last rakat of any namaz, what is the minimum a person has to recite before he can make salam? if a person recites the tashahud and then simply says “Alahumma Salli-‘alaa Muhammad” and makes salam, is his salat valid?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

The sending of blessings (durud) is an emphasized sunna in its full form. The validity of the prayer is not contingent upon it, but leaving it regularly would be sinful. (Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah; Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar)
